Next time it fails check for power at the blower motor connector using a test light or multimeter. If it's not there check for power at pin 6 (Dark blue wire) at the front blower power module. If it's not there it looks like the TIPM or it's connections is the problem.

When you slide the temperature switch on the front control panel the mode door should move to allow either cool or hot air in the cabin. Sounds like yours has failed hot.
