Topic starter. Hello, I have a 2005 Honda Accord LX, automatic with 125k miles. I occasionally hear a whining noise that increases when I accelerate. I think its the power steering pump or a seal. There is also some black liquid on the pump.I can't hear any whine when I rev in park/neutral. Sometimes I hear no whine all day, then the next day it starts during an acceleration from say a stop light mid way through a trip. The whine fluxuates with the transmission shift change during acceleration. When it's happening it is load.
