I buy my filters at the Honda dealer and they tape two washers to the filter. Once a new guy only put one on there and I told him there's two drain plugs. They recommend no more than two oil changes before replacing the washers but for 50 cents I'll replace them every time.Lube the O ring with oil on the oil filter and spin it back on 1/4 turn past hand tight. Do not use synthetic oil in a new motor. Not until you get at least 3,000 miles on the odometer. After that, it is OK to use synthetic. You may want to change the rear end oil every 6,000 miles.

I think you will be fine with "mineral oil" vs. synthetic and others have said that the specific weight you have is okay (I know nothing about the weight issue). After reading several threads about oil, decided it was time to do an oil change myself. In the last 4 years of owning an Aero 750 and now a VTX 1300 I had been taking the bike in to the dealer per the maintenance schedule.
