Jeep jk running hot
So we know the 2012+ JKs certainly CAN run cooler if they need to. Yet they were designed to run at the temps they run. Must have been a reason. I was just reading in a car magazine that some new car, forget which one, actually has a split cooling system. The heads run at 195 degrees and the block runs at 220 degrees.2009 JK Heat Issues. My jeep is currently running hot but only on the freeway. Around the town it runs fine. Fan clutch is good and thermostat is new. Started to overheat after a trip to an ORV park but I washed the radiator out and its pretty clean on the outside. Also drained and refilled the system completely.

Mine only appears to be running hot after I have been going down the road and have the A/c on. If I turn the A/C off, the temp goes back down after a mile or so. Speed does not seem to matter... only the A/C running. The jeep is a 2004 4.0L 5 speed. Even bought that funnel system for purging the air. Also checked for exhaust gasses in the fluid. Several time's. It seems that there are more complaints from owners with 12 plus 3.6 JK's running hot, but in most instances it's normal. The variable speed fan is a better set up than prior year JK's. Beginning in 2012 with the 3.6 Chrysler went to a variable speed fan, basically low-med-high. A 3.6 will usually run at 210-230 with the AC off. ….

Often times taking multiple attempts. To start with I would open the radiator cap and make sure it is full, right up to the top.
