Iam a non US IMG with Grad year of Jan 2018.. I have passed CS and recently scored a 260 in step1.. Currently studying for CK.. have no research experience and no USCE in surgery.. ( but have 2 USCE in IM) Should I try finding USCE in surgery before Match 2022 or should I try finding a research position for a year and postpone match for another ...It is very tough to get into a US general surgery residency as an IMG. Almost all of the people I know (30 people) had exceptional scores 250s and 260s on both steps and also had good amount of research with big name institutions (they usually take 2-3 years doing research and publish 15-20 papers).
