The next day I got a call from Lenovo corporate offering to reimburse me for the repair.

This is the result of poor design on Lenovo's part, even if you replace the screen, there is still the issue of the hinge, which you can try (key word "try"), to get it fixed by a repair shop, although I don't know if its worth fixing or buying a new one. I'm looking at buying a Ideapad Flex 5 16" laptop (2022 model). A lot of reviews I've found about the Ideapad Flex 2-in-1 laptops from 2020-2021 mention that the screen hinges fail within a few months to 1 year, often resulting in the screen cracking.
