Yesterday no luck at all. Dealer says to bring in split transmission to adjust. ($1200+) Clutch play OK. It was extremely painless. The lower PTO output shaft was equally painless. I can get to and removed 4 bearings. They are 2 each NSK 6207 and KOYO 6306. Time to open the wallet and order a new PTO shaft and slide gear.

Most likely it has a "live" PTO with a two stage clutch. The clutch may need replacement? Figure $2.5K to repair if this is the case.
