Just solved this issue on a 2007 Pilot - D3 and D light on and blinking - engine light on - (would not shift into 4th) - mechanic changed out the transmission range sensor located near the fill tube. Issue solved. Code had come back as P0700 and P 0705.Yes other unrelated (or so it would seem) systems can disable the VSA and cause the light to come on. Low battery, brake problem, engine problem, etc. Similar to how if the check engine light is on you can not remote start the engine. I also found this in the owner's manual.
